This Is The First Out Of Town Trip Of The Season For Me. I Decided To Take This Impulsive
Trip To The Chiefs Stadium Then Explore Lawrence On The Way Back But Stayed Longer In KC
Because Of The Late Afternoon Traffic On I-70. Weekend Rides Are Better For Me Because Of
The City Market Is Open To Get Snacks And Use The Facilities, Plus Other Activities Are Taking
Place Around Town. The Main Thing For Me Is, I Got Out Of Town For A few Hours And $20 Gas.
(Pre-9/11 Would Be About $8.)
HWY24 East Ride, May 3, 2009
This Was Just A Short Ride On HWY 24 To Lawrence Where I Took Only A Few Photos. I Found
This To Be A Dangerous Route Because Seemingly Every Kid Who Was Driving And Talking On
Cell Phone Passed Me On Every Strait-A-Way And Curve Not Caring If It Was A Passing Zone Or
Not. Folks Even Had Trouble Maintaining Their Lane When The Road Curved To Their Right. God
Got Me Off That Road Safely. My First Stop Was Lake Perry Where I Observed Streets North Of
The Dam Closed Off For Flooding, So I Went On To Find These Tee Pees That I First Saw When
I Was Riding My Honda VTX Years Ago. While Here I Saw Lots Of Bikers Leaving A Lawrence
Bike Bar To HWY 24 East That Some Locals Told Me Were On A Poker Run To Someplace Out
East. I Turned Around At Lawrence & Came Home On I-70. I'm Done With Riding On HWY 24.
KCMO Solo Ride,February 7, 2009.
This Day Started Out Nice In The 50's, The Usual I-70 East And Went Thru The 18th & Vine
District And An Abandoned Fort Just To The South Then To Bass Pro Shops In Olathe. I Had to
Ride Back In The Dark After Drifting Around Too Much On The Way Home. The Concours Held
Up Well And Was Able To Stay Away From Traffic. This 194 Mile Trip Brings My Odometer To
672 Miles So Far. I Wish I Had Bought This Sooner.
Tuttle Creek Ride April 4, 2009
It's Saturday, First Day Of My Vacation, The Temps Start Out In The 50's & End In The Upper
60's. Tired Of KCMO Solo Rides I Went West To Look At Countrysides & Antiques,I Got Caught
In The Rain At A Convenience Store In Wamego For About An Hour And A Half Then Moved On
The Tuttle Creek, I Was Stopped By Pott' Sheriff On HWY24 Near Wamego For My Hi'Beams
Being On & Was Let Off With A Warning Where A Ticket Would Have Cost Me $200, Not To
Mention Listening To Stevie Wonder On My Earphones. After Passing Through Wamego, I Made
The 9 Mile Run Back To I-70 East By Dark, Close Enough For Me. I Don't Like Riding In The Dark
Because Of Wildlife.

Wichita Kansas November 19, 2008.
I Had To Help In A Family Move Which Involved A Small Caravan From Topeka To WICHITA. I
Fallowed In A Kia Rio And Was Unable To Avoid Being Side Swiped By An Admitted At Fault
Driver, Escaping Injury, I Drove On Into Wichita Without Any More Incidents. The Next Day I Rode
Around Down Town Taking As Many Photos As I Could. I Found My Way To The KEEPER OF
THE FLAME Near Downtown And Made It My Landmark To Get Back Home. I'll Have To Go
Back At Nite To See It Lit Up With It's Flames. I Just Had To See The Wichita Transit Systems
Central Station Out Of Curiosity. It's Far More Fancy That The Topeka Transit Station In Topeka
Probably Because They Have More Millions Of Funds To Go On. Surprisingly I Was Not Stopped
By Local Law Enforcement As I Expected, I Did Speak To One Officer For Directions To The
Train Museum And Encountered Him A Few More Times Which Made Me Feel Less Alone &
Safer. The Ride Back To Topeka Later That Day Was A Long One, I Got Really Road Weary And
Stopped At Every Rest Stop Along The Way And Went To Bed Early When I Got Home. I Ended
My Weekend Trip With 233 Miles On The Bikes Trip Odometer.
KCMO Solo August 4, 2008.
The Day Started Out Cloudy Then Cleared To Let The Heat Climb To 101 At About 1:30 When I
Last Checked The Weather On My Cell Phone.
I Started At The City Market Where I Drew Dirty Stares From An SUV Driver After Taking Just
Vacated Spot In Front Of The Entrance And Went On To See Lots Of People And Fruity Stuff.
Leaving I Found A Fire Fighters Memorial Park & Also visited The 18th & Vine District. By Then It
Was Nearing 100 Degrees Outside. Veterans Park And Memorial Park's Driveway Was Packed
Bumper To Bumper With Parked Cars And Had One Security Guard Driving Around, Which Is
Good. A Man On A Honda Savage Led Me To This Art School Where I Found These Shuttle
Cocks (?) And Grim Looking Statues Near The Plaza. The Plaza Wasn't Real Busy, Too Hot.
There Were Only A Few Bikes That Passed Thru. Getting Bored I Moved On To Olathe To See
The BASS PRO SHOPS Then Pushed Back To KCMO & Home Which Was A 101 Mile Trip
Back To Topeka. I Ended With 233 Miles On The Trip Odometer And
Fresh Pipe Burns Which I "Earned" After Removing My Jeans For Walks.
Dover Ride. May 12, 2008
On The Way To Dover I Found This Structure On Private Property, After Getting Permission From
A Young Lady At The House, I Parked In The Driveway And Walked To This Building Where I
Was Surprised By A Really Big Bird Nesting In It. The One Picture I Took Just Holding The
Camera In The Window Trusting It Would Not Attack My Hand Or The Camera, Then On To
Dover I Went Where I Met Cows that Watched Me Photograph The Windmill But Did Not Want To
Be Petted. I Was Nearly Cut Down By A Truck Leaving The Fire Station That Almost Turned
Across My Path Without Seeing My Hi-Beam Headlight, White Helmet And Blaze Yellow Vest.
Nice Save On Her Part And Nice Controlled Skid On My Part. The Angels Were With Both The
Truck Driver And Myself Once Again. See The Slide Show

Emporia Solo Ride.
Rode To Emporia To See A Custom Bike Builders Shop Fallowing Mapquest.com That Actually
Took Me To The Owners House. I Came Across
Justin With A Tree Service Who Led Me To A Point That Gave Me A Strait Shot To The Shop.
After Looking At Some Bikes I Rode To The All Veterans Memorial Park. I Then Then Rode Back
On I-135 Over Shooting HWY75 By A Few Miles Which Got Me Home Safely Only To Have A
Near Collision With Kids Making A Blind Left Turn From A Kwik Shop.
Angels Were With Me Once Again !

My First 2 Wheeled Ride Was A 1982 Honda Urban Express Moped That I Bought For $75 From One Of My Brothers Friends, I Had This For About 2 Years Which I Switched Between It The KZ400.
|
This Is The Page For My Bragging Of Where I've Been On My Motorcycle. I Mostly Ride Alone Since My CDL Discourages Me From Keeping Up With The More Experienced Riders. I Find It Dangerous To Ride In Town Alone With Those Aggressive SUV's And Distracted Drivers, So I Choose to Ride The Hi-Ways On 1/2 Day Trips At My Own Pace.
